Following a brief chat with business owner Caroline Catterall, discussing the main objectives for this new site, I created the design below.
Using a logo design and colour scheme from post card artwork supplied, I began working on the new layout above. I started by scanning then re-originating the logo and sampled the colours. I then began to work on the over all layout for the website design grid. Choosing a clear and intuitive navigation was very important. I also wanted to create a clean and fresh look on the site to reflect the business type itself.
In the header the logo is placed top left with a short slogan to the right. The main navigation sits on the colour line split between the header and content area background. The main container on the home begins with an information slider at the top. This will cycle through all the main services provided and will link to pages containing more information for each one. Below the slider will be text outlining the website in brief along with a quick contact mailform for customers to get in touch easily. The base one the home page will feature three blocks containing additional information and click throughs for the main services. Finally the footer area will contain contact details, social media connections and internal site links.
